MAKER’S MARK er meira en 50 ára gamalt. Bill Samuels, Sr., áfengisframleiðandi frá Kentucky og stofnandi Maker’s Mark, lagði af stað með það markmið að búa til bragðbetra bourbon-viskí. Hann uppgötvaði að ef notað er hausthveiti í maukið í stað hefðbundins áfengisrúgs verður bourbon-viskíið mýkra og minna beiskt – og það var lykilatriðið.
